These days, fame isn’t enough for a celebrity to win the hearts and minds of consumers, especially where a luxury watch is concerned. An unwavering dedication to their craft, as well as a distinct personal style, seem to be important factors in choosing a face for the brand.
It also doesn’t hurt when they have a personal history with the brand, and already own a few pieces even before they were signed – just like some of these ladies. Now that is a powerful statement!
Here are women in film who have successfully built partnerships with luxury watch brands:
Director Sofia Coppola already owned a few pieces from Cartier, such as a mini Tank watch, before she became their ambassador in 2016. This year, she is creating a commercial to mark the reintroduction of the 1980’s Panthère jewelry watch.

Rosamund Pike was chosen as IWC’s ambassador this year, as it more openly courts the women’s market. She admits to liking men’s watches, especially the Portuguese, for its sporty yet elegant style.
