The Best Automobile & Watch Collaborations

Watches and automobiles have always existed in parallels, as their histories are inextricably linked. Both were born out of the need for precision and convenience, and are objects of great craftsmanship, and mechanical achievement. No wonder many watch collectors happen to be automobile enthusiasts, too.

There has been no shortage of collaborations between watch and auto brands, but we’ve chosen a few partnerships that really shine. With these, you don’t have to choose between the watch and the car – just have the best of both worlds.

Breitling Bentley

Breitling for Bentley
Swiss watchmaker Breitling and British luxury car manufacturer Bentley first collaborated in 2002; and their success has been unstoppable since. Independent from one another, they shared core values of luxury and accomplishment. The Breitling for Bentley watches house “engines” inside their gold, steel or titanium construction; and include chronograph, date and GMT time zone features.

IWC Ingenieur

IWC and Mercedes-AMG
IWC has a 50-year relationship with Mercedes Benz, particularly for their high-performance racing brand, Mercedes-AMG. The partnership shares the core values of precision engineering, innovation, and teamwork. This special IWC Ingenieur watch was produced as a special edition model to celebrate the partnership. Light, sweat- and rust-proof, and with precision timing of 1/8 of a second, it’s the embodiment of a perfect sports watch.

Tudor Fastrider

Tudor and Ducati
The Tudor Fastrider line was inspired by Tudor’s position as the official timekeeper of Italian motorcycle company Ducati, which began in 2011. The watches from this collection are utility-inspired, very sporty, but also sleek and saucy – just like a Ducati. Coming with a ceramic and overall matte finish, the watches come in racetrack colors (such as green and yellow) or in Ducati’s trademark black and red.

Hublot Ferrari

Hublot and Ferrari
If there is one thing that Hublot and Ferrari have in common – it’s speed. Founded only in 1980, Hublot now has as much prestige as watch brands that have a century of heritage. This partnership gave birth to avant-garde luxury watches that allude to automobiles. The Hublot Ferrari Unico Carbon has rubber inlaid with Alcantara, a suede-like fabric used in car interiors; meanwhile, the crown resembles car pedals, while the rotor takes inspiration from a wheel. Talk about attention to detail!

Tag Heuer Mercedes

Tag Heuer and McLaren Mercedes-Benz
With models like the Carrera and Monaco, Tag Heuer is prolific when it comes to racing-inspired watches; and this time it took inspiration not just from the sport but from the power of a sportscar – the McLaren Mercedes-Benz SLR. The partnership grew from the ties that Tag Heuer and Benz had with the McLaren F1 team.Production of the car was discontinued in 2009, while Tag Heuer ended its partnership with McLaren in 2015, but that only makes this an interesting watch for any collector.

Jaeger LeCoultre and Aston Martin
If it’s heritage you’re looking for, then Jaeger LeCoultre and iconic British carmaker Aston Martin are your best choice. The partnership started in the 1920’s with Aston Martin cars equipped with Jaeger LeCoultre speedometers. Today, they have the AMVOX collection, a line of watches with Aston Martin’s power and aesthetics.
