Jake Gyllenhaal was one of the busiest stars of 2019. The Academy Award-nominated actor was the latest villain to go against Spider-Man, and is the star of Netflix hit Velvet Buzzsaw. He just wrapped up a Broadway show, too!
With such a fast-paced life, it’s great that Jake has a fine watch on all the time. As the face of Santos de Cartier, the aviation watch is constantly on his wrist, but we’ve also spotted him with other excellent timepieces.
Check out the watches of Jake Gyllenhaal, on and off-screen.
Rolex Submariner Date
Jake likes very classic and tailored looks on the red carpet, but on the street, he’s a pullover and jeans kind of guy. A tool watch suits this look very well and Jake’s choice is no less than the Rolex Submariner Date. He wears the Ceramic Bezel model ref 116610, which features a beefier “Super Case” and maxi dial.
The Rolex Milgauss fits Jake’s current style sensibilities quite well. He likes functional pieces with playful and quirky touches; and the Rolex Milguass is just that. The highly anti-magnetic watch was made with scientists in mind, but its design is anything but boring.
The first Rolex watch to have a colored crystal, the Rolex Milgauss ref 116400V, combines a green sapphire crystal with orange hour markers and a lightning bolt seconds hand.
Cartier Santos 100
Cartier chose Jake as their first ever watch ambassador, and the face of the Santos de Cartier line, because of the “bold and fearless” choices he has made his career.
One of the first wristwatches ever, the Santos was created in 1904 for Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, so he could tell time while flying. The epoch-making watch stayed true to its original shape, but was given softer lines for improved comfort and proportions.
Jake’s breakout movie was 2005’s Brokeback Mountain, where he co-starred with the late Heath Ledger. Here they are presenting at the SAG awards of 2006. Jake was wearing a Panerai Luminor GMT watch.
Jake has worn some noteworthy timepieces in his films, too. In the 2014 thriller Nightcrawler, he wore a stainless steel Breitling Chronomat with a white dial and three subdials.
In the 2016 movie Nocturnal Animals, another psychological thriller, Jake wore a stainless steel Rolex Datejust with a black dial, and luminous baton hour markers.
