Gold Rolex Sport Watches Fans

Famous Fans of Gold Rolex Sport Watches

Rolex sport watches and solid gold Rolex timepieces, are the most coveted models from the brand. But what if you can have both – and in one watch to boot?

Rolex’s tool watches were created for utilitarian purposes, but with time, they have evolved into luxurious timepieces, constructed in precious metals and different colorways. The results are true statement pieces that are both very capable and very decadent.

Here are our favorite solid yellow gold Rolex sport watches and the stars who love them:

GMT Master Transitional

The Rolex GMT Master 1675/8 is not just eye-catching in yellow gold, it’s also quite historic. The transitional model marked a number of changes and updates to the GMT Master: the then new Caliber 3075 with 28,800 vibrations per hour (versus 19,800 for the previous Caliber 1575), the quick set date feature, and the first time that Rolex fitted a GMT Master with the sapphire crystal.

This is a very handsome timepiece that can go from day to night, thanks to the addition of the Jubilee bracelet, which gives it a slightly dressier look. Arnold Schwarzenegger is shown here wearing the same model with both casual and business ensembles.

Submariner Yellow Gold Purple Dial

Rolex Submariner Yellow Gold Blue Bezel

Done in solid 18k yellow gold, and with a blue bezel and dial, the ref 16618 looks every inch a statement timepiece. But it’s not all looks – since this is a Rolex Submariner, it’s very well-suited for diving, with its depth rating of 300 meters, unidirectional rotating bezel, luminous hour markers, and a bracelet that can extend to fit over a diving suit. Mark Wahlberg is seen here wearing a blue dial version.

Submariner Black Dial Yellow Gold

Rolex’s first gold Submariner was the ref 16618 (seen here on Justin Theroux and Sylvester Stallone). It was updated decades after with the six digit reference, which boasts a Cerachrom ceramic bezel, broader lugs for a larger fit, a Triplock screw down crown for three times the waterproofness, and a “Maxi Dial” with larger hours and wider hands.

Whether you choose the aluminum bezel version, or the Cerachrom ceramic bezel version, you’ve got yourself a classic Rolex Submariner with stunning wrist presence.

Daytona Green

Rolex Daytona Yellow Gold Green Dial

Yellow gold versions of the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona are most often seen with champagne or black dials, so this green dial version is a refreshing take. Green is of course a significant color for Rolex, and this model is on a league of its own.

While the Day-Date 40 has a mossy green dial version, and the Submariner has bright tones with the Hulk, the dial here is a deeper green, made sleeker with a sunburst technique. Jonah Hill (seen above) and John Mayer are fans of this very decadent timepiece.

Yachtmaster II Yellow Gold

Rolex Yachtmaster II Yellow Gold Regatta Chronograph

Built almost entirely in 18k yellow gold except for the blue Cerachrom bezel, this 44mm timepiece is one that will command attention wherever you wear it. Due to its size, color and heft, it has become a favorite among celebrities like Conor McGregor (seen above), Mark Wahlberg, David Beckham, and Drake.

It’s not all about looks, though. This timepiece is also one of Rolex’s most mechanically complex. The Yachtmaster II combines the features of a regatta watch and chronograph.  It’s also equipped with the Ring Command Bezel, which works in conjunction with the movement and is used to set the watch.
