Women wearing men’s watches is a trend that we’ve seen for more than a decade now, and it looks like it’s here to stay. The line between a man’s watch and a woman’s watch has been blurred; and this has opened a whole new world of watches for women to explore.

Rolex reigns supreme when it comes to this trend, with women wearing anything from 36mm Rolex Day-Dates to 44mm Seadwellers. Having a robust and oversized timepiece on a woman’s wrist is both a statement and a power move, especially for women who just love a good watch. The Rolex Submariner set the standard for dive watches when it launched in 1953. Today, it appeals to a much broader range of collectors — CEOs, athletes, A-list celebrities, and just about any watch collector has a Submariner in their watch box.

The Rolex President Day-Date got its name from the Presidents and leaders who have worn it, but women have also caught the Day-Date fever. Jennifer Lopez, for one, wears the 40mm white gold anniversary edition.

This particular model (ref 228239) was introduced in 2016 in time for the Day-Date’s 60th anniversary. Like most of Rolex’s milestone watches, it comes with a green dial, this time in a unique bright olive green hue. The fluted bezel and coordinating faceted markers add a contemporary feel.

Most ladies watches measure anywhere from 26 to 34mm, but Charlize Theron prefers to go supersized with the 44mm-wide Rolex Seadweller Deepsea. The massive case was made to accommodate the Ring Lock System, which provides waterproofness up to 12,800 feet.
