Who Wears Omega Planet Ocean?

Launched in 2005, the Omega Planet Ocean is a relatively new addition to the Omega family. Created for professional and recreational divers, it sports a robust build, highly legible features and extraordinary waterproof capabilities.

That doesn’t mean it’s only for use under the sea. Over the years it has found its way to the wrists of well-heeled watch lovers. Its aggressively sporty look, combined with novel materials, in-house movements and various evolutions, have made it the choice timepiece of the jet-set.

Long time Omega ambassador, George Clooney, has his pick of the lot, from the Omega Speedmaster to the Seamaster Professional, and Aqua Terra. When it comes to the Omega Planet Ocean, he prefers to go bold.

His choice Planet Ocean comes with an orange aluminum rotating bezel and strap, which offers excellent legibility even underwater. It’s a very sporty watch but George has used it to add pizzazz to a red carpet look.

Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time, was once the face of Omega Planet Ocean. A friend of Omega since 2004, Michael is a long-time Seamaster fan and has been guest of honor at numerous Omega events.

He wears the Omega Planet Ocean Chronograph with a black ceramic bezel and features a small seconds sub-dial, as well as 60-minute and 12-hour counters for intuitive reading of elapsed time.

Omega also created a limited edition Planet Ocean Michael Phelps model as a tribute to him. Available in only 280 pieces (a salute to his 28 medals), the watch features a polished blue ceramic bezel, which features orange rubber for the first 15 minutes. The white ceramic dial makes the blue-orange color scheme stand out.

Actor Josh Duhamel has once worked with Omega for their Planet Ocean documentary. The 90-minute film, which Josh narrated, was about the perils that the oceans face; and was a joint project together with the environmental organization GoodPlanet.

Josh’s watch is the model born out of the partnership – the Omega Planet Ocean 600M GoodPlanet. The GMT timepiece features a blue ceramic uni-directional rotating bezel, complete with a bright orange GMT scale as well as a bright orange aluminum GMT hand that allows the wearer to keep track of time in two time zones.

Actor Henry Cavill gained international recognition for his role as Superman in DC Extended Universe films. He is also widely recognized as one of Hollywood’s best dressed men, with his classic tailored looks and dapper style.
