Celebrities Who Love Rolex Pepsi

The Rolex GMT Master Pepsi, with its famous blue and red bezel, is one of the most iconic timepieces in the Rolex line-up. It came about as a commission from Pan Am airlines for a proper pilot’s watch – with its bi-colored bezel, it allows for easier reading of two timezones.

The appeal of the Rolex Pepsi has gone well beyond the pilot community. Six decades on, it’s still a favorite among watch collectors and high profile celebrities. We played a game of celebrity watch spotting and found out who wears the Rolex Pepsi:

The Rolex GMT Master Pepsi 1675 is one of the most sought after references of the Pepsi. Fans love it for its vintage features, as it has either a quick set date or an independent GMT hand.

Actor Tom Selleck is perhaps the most famous fan of the 1675. He famously wore his ref 1675 in the show Magnum P.I., where he played Thomas Magnum, a private investigator living in Hawaii. The series ran from 1980 to 1988, and Tom continued to wear his Rolex Pepsi many years after the show ended.

Actor Orlando Bloom also wears the Rolex GMT Master Pepsi 1675, this time with a five-piece Jubilee bracelet. It’s also particularly significant for its pointed crown guards, which was only used in very early models of the 1675; and replaced later on with more traditional crown guards.

Daniel Craig is best known for playing James Bond. Agent 007 exclusively wears Omega watches on his wrist, but in real life, Daniel is quite the fan of Rolex watches as well.

His choice Rolex Pepsi is the reference 16710, the second model of the GMT-Master II line. Produced from 1989 to 2007, it’s the last of the GMT-Master II models to have the pre-Cerachrom aluminum bezel inserts.

GMT Master II Pepsi White Gold

John Mayer and Ellen Degeneres also wear the Rolex Pepsi; but in a significantly different model. Their choice is the reference 116719, which is fashioned in 18k white gold instead of stainless steel.

Aside from being made from precious metal, it also came with a host of other updates: first is the Cerachrom ceramic bezel which replaced the previous aluminum material. It is also equipped with a Triplock triple waterproofness system and larger lume plots care of its Maxi Dial.

Finally, it also runs on the new Caliber 3186, whose blue Parachrom hairspring offers better protection against temperature variations and magnetic fields.

The white gold Rolex Pepsi is indeed luxurious, but it put the iconic timepiece beyond the reach of many Rolex fans. Finally, in 2018, Rolex resurrected the Pepsi in steel with the reference 126710.

This reference marks the first time that the Cerachrom bezel has been available on a stainless steel version of the Rolex Pepsi. It also marks the return of the five-piece Jubilee bracelet to the line, in the brand’s proprietary Oystersteel.

Comedian and television host Trevor Noah, and Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone, were among the first personalities to be spotted with this contemporary version of the Rolex GMT Master II Pepsi.
