IWC Watches and Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton is one of the most successful drivers of all time. The English racer began his Formula One career with McLaren in 2007, then signed for the Mercedes team six years later.

Today, he’s won more races than anyone else in history, including seven joint-record titles at the World Driver’s Championship. He also holds the record for the most number of pole positions and podium finishes, and Grand Prix victories.

Off the racing track, Lewis is a style star and even has his own clothing line, developed in collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger. IWC Perpetual Calendar

Lewis was recently named as the face of the IWC Perpetual Calendar, launched in 2021. His penchant for standout pieces makes him the perfect representative for this striking watch, which is the newest of the brand’s collection of Flieger watches. An elegant take on the classic Perpetual Calendar, it features a satin finish, a blue sunburst dial with contrasting white Arabic numerals and minute track, and red accents that provide a beautiful splash of color. Prior to this, the F1 star had the opportunity to co-design a limited edition Perpetual Calendar watch, bearing his own name. Crafted in black ceramic with a matte finish, the watch brings a lot of pizzazz by having a burgundy textile strap, and a matching sunburst dial with lustrous red gold-plated hands and markers. Lewis also has a custom-made Perpetual Calendar in his watch box, which he wore to support the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement. Sporting an all-black look, this is the same Perpetual Calendar you have known for years, but what gives it away is the Ceratanium construction and matte dial that makes the silver moon phase and year indicator pop. IWC Big Pilot’s Watch

Lewis also counts the classic IWC Big Pilot’s Watch as part of his collection. When he signed with the brand in 2013, he was chosen to endorse this flagship model characterized by utilitarian aesthetics and a handsome appeal.

The Big Pilot’s watch offers optimum readability with its jet-black dial and luminous hands and indices, and a versatile look that wears well with any ensemble. Thanks to its cushioned leather strap, it also sits comfortably on the wrist.

IWC Big Pilot’s Saint Exupery

Judging by how often he wears it, Lewis’ favorite IWC timepiece has to be his Saint Exupery edition Big Pilot’s watch, crafted as an ode to novelist and aviator Antoine de Saint Exupéry. Introduced in 2017, it comes in a stunning red gold case, which is complemented by a sunray finish tobacco dial, beefy Arabic numerals, and applied luminous hands. A matching brown calfskin strap bracelet ties the whole look together.

Lewis was also signed as the face of the “Mojave Desert” Big Pilot’s Top Gun watches, which come in time only, chronograph, and perpetual calendar editions. This model pays homage to the US Navy’s Fighter Weapons School, also known as TOPGUN.

The “Mojave Desert” remains faithful to the Big Pilot’s design DNA with its large dial, bold hour markers and minute tracks, and luminescent hands. It also took on an updated ceramic case design in a pleasing sand color, and has a soft-iron inner case that makes it highly resistant to magnetic fields.
