Phil Mickelson and His Rolex Watches

Top golfer Phil Mickelson has had a fruitful career spanning three decades. Nicknamed ‘Lefty’ for his left-handed style of playing, he is a Golf Hall of Fame inductee and a three-time World Golf Championships title holder.

The American pro golfer is also the oldest major championship winner at the age of 50. His recent win at the 2021 PGA Championship proves that “it’s never too late.”

As a Rolex brand ambassador, Phil’s watch collection ranges from vintage to modern timepieces. He embodies the essence of Rolex watches, with a style that’s timeless and a performance that’s phenomenal. Here’s what Phil Mickelson wears on his wrist::

Rolex Yacht-Master Evergold

Phil’s sports watch of choice is the Yacht-Master Everose — one of the brand’s most luxurious releases. Introduced in 2015, this watch is made for yachting and sailing, but suits most activities with its robust build and superior wrist presence.

As its name suggests, it features a stunning Everose gold construction, a matte black Cerachrom bezel, and an intense black dial. It was also the first Yacht-Master to sport an Oysterflex bracelet, whose tiered design allows a comfortable fit for wearers.

With its highly-versatile look, the Yacht-Master Everose can easily be worn with casual ensembles or even with a suit as seen on Phil. Photo from Phil Mickelson on Instagram

The reigning PGA champ also owns a handful of decades-old Cellini Danaos models in different materials and sizes. These belong to the dress watch collection of Rolex, whose retro styling cues are inspired by Rolex pieces from the ’20s and ’30s.

One of Phil’s favorites is the Ref. 4233, which comes in a modestly sized 34mm white and rose gold case, paired with a brown crocodile leather strap. The white dial with large Arabic numerals offers a playful look and easy reading. He also wears the white gold version of the Cellini Danaos, which has a black dial with luminous markers and a leather strap of the same tone.

Both watches have been discontinued since 2014, but are still sought after by Rolex enthusiasts. Phil has worn them during his recent PGA championship win. Photos from Phil Mickelson on Instagram

Phil also counts the Cellini Prince as part of his collection. The watch stands out among Oyster-cased Rolex watches with its unique design and sleek rectangular case, which was inspired by the first Rolex Prince from the 1920s.

This nostalgic timepiece features a white gold case, a black and silver dial adorned with ‘Rayon Flamme De La Gloire’ guilloché patterns, a small seconds sub-dial, and thick dauphine hands. The Art-Deco styling makes it an impressive addition to any watch collection. Photo from World Golf Championships on Twitter

Rolex Platinum Day-Date

At one point, Phil served as the face of the Rolex Day-Date, which comes exclusively in precious metals. His penchant for exquisite and reliable pieces makes him the perfect representative for this watch.

Phil went for a highly coveted platinum model, which offers additional heft on the wrist and a significant value. Boasting a neat layout, it features baguette and brilliant cut diamonds on its glacier blue dial, a shade used exclusively on platinum Rolex watches. A Presidential bracelet with a hidden clasp ties the whole look together. Video from Phil Mickelson on Instagram
