The Watches of Jamie Dornan

Jamie Dornan made it big after starring as Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades franchise but he’s been a shapeshifter for his entire career. The Irish actor started as a musician and model, before becoming world-famous by playing compelling characters, such as a sadistic businessman, a working-class father, and a serial killer.

As varied as his talents are his choice in timepieces. While he’s a huge fan of Omega timepieces, Jamie also made space for Cartier in his watch box. Here’s what Jamie Dornan wears on his wrist:

Omega Aqua Terra

The Seamaster Aqua Terra was introduced 20 years ago as a capable daily wearer. Offering 150 meters of water resistance, unparalleled anti-magnetic properties, and a nautical-inspired look, this watch is just as capable at water sports as it is in daily life.

Jamie prefers the blue-on-blue model, which features a steel case and a matching smooth bezel. Its blue dial completes the look by boasting teak patterns reminiscent of luxury sailboats’ decks and rhodium-plated luminous hands.

The actor also has the dressier chronograph version, which he wore in Fifty Shades of Grey. It comes with a large 44mm case, a silver dial decorated with Teak Concept patterns, and a brown leather strap. Its hands and indices with rose gold surrounds exude class, while its 3313 movement offers robustness with its 52-hour power reserve.

Omega Seamaster 300M

Aside from the Aqua Terra, the Seamaster 300M also appeared on the big screen with Jamie. The pioneer model was introduced in 1993 and is easily identifiable with its features: the blue wave pattern dial, the scalloped bezel, and the blue bezel insert, all inspired by the brand’s maritime legacy.

Not only is this steel timepiece reliable, but it’s also historic. It was the first Omega watch worn by Her Majesty’s secret agent, James Bond. The watch appeared on Pierce Brosnan’s wrist in the 1995 movie GoldenEye, and eventually became one of the most sought-after models from Omega.

Omega Speedmaster

Jamie also adores the green dial Omega Speedmaster 57, which he wore at the 2022 Oscars with a black tuxedo. Launched in 2012, this vintage re-edition remains faithful to the original Ref. CK2915 Speedmaster’s design by boasting straight lugs, a crown-guard-less polished case, and broad arrow hands.

The brand revamped the collection this year to suit current trends. Instead of the usual three, the new Speedmaster 57 comes with just two chronograph sub-dials. It also runs on a METAS-certified Calibre 9906 and features exciting new dial and strap colors.

Omega Globemaster

For the 2017 SAG Awards, Jamie complemented his red carpet style with the Omega Constellation Globemaster. This watch is a part of the Constellation line and pays homage to Omega’s watches from the 1950s.

The actor went for the steel model with a blue dial and link bracelet. Mid-century details define it – such as a fluted bezel and a recessed “pie-pan” dial – while housing Omega’s most advanced movement, the 8900. The first of the brand’s movements to receive the METAS certification, the 8900 is resistant to magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gausses.

Cartier Drive

Launched in 2016, the Cartier Drive is a masculine expression of the dress watch. It borrows elements from the design language of Cartier, and subtly adds in vintage automotive inspiration – making for a timepiece that’s beautiful, refined, and masculine, all at the same time.

Jamie owns the 40mm rose gold version with a black leather strap and faceted blue sapphire crown. The flat cushion-shaped case and curved bezel offer dynamism on the wrist while giving comfortable wear.
