The Watches of Dwyane Wade

NBA Star Dwyane Wade bowed out of professional basketball in 2019 but he remains a force to be reckoned with. Just recently, Wade was also honored as one of NBA’s greatest players in history by being inducted into the league’s 75th Anniversary Team.

Dwyane’s impressive talents have extended far beyond the court. As the new host of the British game show The Cube, and with countless partnerships with big fashion brands, the former basketball player is just getting started.

Along with his evolution, Dwyane has stepped up his style game. His wardrobe includes stylish double-breasted suits and an excellent array of timeless watches from Rolex, Cartier, and Vacheron Constantin, among others. Here’s what Dwyane Wade wears on his wrist:

Rolex President Day-Date

Dwyane’s first choice timepiece is the President Day-Date — one of the brand’s most popular releases. First introduced in 1956, this watch symbolizes success and achievement, and is well-loved for its elegant appeal and balanced design.

The former athlete went for the 18k Day-Date 40 model, which was released in 2015 as a replacement to the 41mm Day-Date II. While the 1mm difference may seem trivial on paper, it is definitely felt on the wrist. The 228238 also comes with a thin bezel, slimmer lugs, and a champagne dial with diamond indices.

Powering the watch is the self-winding Caliber 3255, equipped with 31 jewels and a 70-hour power reserve. This movement presents significant improvements in accuracy, all thanks to its Paraflex shock absorbers and blue Parachrom hairspring.

Santos de Cartier

Dwyane also counts the iconic Cartier Santos as part of his collection. First launched in the 1970s, it steals attention with its squarish profile and high polished finish. In 2018, the French brand revamped the timepiece to suit modern trends.

Dwyane prefers the rose gold edition, which has neat lines and a dark gray leather strap. These are complemented by a slim curved case that seamlessly connects with the wide lugs and a silver opaline dial with painted Roman numerals and blued hands.

Signature Cartier traits also remained such as the exposed screws on the bezel and the octagonal cabochon crown. With its versatile look, the Santos can be worn with casual outfits or even with a colorful suit as seen on Dwyane.

Cartier Tank Louis

Dwyane also adores the Cartier Tank Louis, which he wore at the recently-held Time 100 Gala. This watch takes inspiration from the French tanks used during World War I and has become the inspiration for modern-day Tanks.

Dwyane went for the gold model, with a thin rectangular case and a blue sapphire crown. Featuring a sunburst finish, the dial comes with a gold minute track and indices, and striking burgundy accents on the inner and outer rim. The long brancards give the watch a retro flair, while the red alligator strap makes it ideal for wearing under the cuff.

Vacheron Constantin Patrimony

At the recent Met Gala, Dwyane left the crowd speechless with his white open blazer, accompanied by no less than a black walking stick by Versace. He paired his edgy outfit with an understated watch – the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony.

The actor’s choice model features a 36mm case and runs on a Caliber 2450 Q6/3 with a 40-hour power reserve. Crafted from pink gold, it also has the distinguishing elements of the classic Patrimony from the 1950s such as the curved profile, the grainy metal dial with raised indices and the refined style. A brown alligator strap completes the look.

Hublot

In the 2010s, Dwyane served as the face of Hublot, a Swiss-based watch company founded by Carlo Crocco. His penchant for standout yet capable pieces makes him the perfect representative for the brand.

Dwyane’s stint as an ambassador gave him the opportunity to design his very own Big Bang timepiece bearing Miami Heat’s signature colors. Crafted in black ceramic and titanium with a matte finish, the watch commands attention by having a hefty 48mm case and an angled bezel with exposed screws.
