Rolex Cellini Time on Placido Domingo
Spanish conductor and opera singer Placido Domingo, who is widely recognized for his versatility and powerful vocals, has been a Rolex ambassador since the 1980s. He was chosen by the brand for his passion for music, creativity, and exquisite taste.
He was often spotted with the Cellini Time Ref. 50505 – the simplest model in the collection. Boasting a lacquer finish, the white dial is particularly tidy and features only applied hour markers and hands in Everose gold. The time-only design was made more striking with the addition of a black inner minute track. Inside beats the chronometer-rated Caliber 3132 movement.

Rolex Cellini Danaos and Cellini Prince on Phil Mickelson
PGA champion Phil Mickelson has a penchant for vintage Rolex Cellini watches. In fact, it might have even been a lucky charm as he set a world record while wearing a CelliniDanaos. This watch takes inspiration from Rolex timepieces from the ‘20s and ‘30s and comes in different materials and sizes.
Phil’s choice model is the Ref. 4233, which features a gold construction, paired with a smooth bezel and a brown leather strap. The dial with large Arabic numerals and a black minute track offers a playful look, while the rectangular case allows for a comfortable fit on the wrist.
The pro-golfer also wears a Cellini Prince, which stands out with its rectangular shape and Art Deco design. Known as the “doctor’s watch,” this timepiece is the 1920s’ original revived in 2015.
Phil went for the white gold model, which has a black and silver dial adorned with ‘Rayon Flamme De La Gloire’ guilloché patterns and a small seconds sub-dial. Red accents add a subtle pop of color, and the wearable colorway makes it a wardrobe staple.

Rolex Cellini Midas on The Weeknd
Just as unconventional as The Weeknd’s sartorial taste in fashion and music is the RolexCellini Midas in gold. This geometric piece was inspired by the Gerald Genta-designed Rolex King Midas.
Featuring a pentagon case, a brushed finish, and a gold construction, The Weeknd’s preferred model is a later version with a modest appeal. The jet-black dial has double baton indices and Rolex signature in gold, while the black leather strap lends a timeless appeal to the otherwise eccentric timepiece.
