Michael has recently been spotted wearing two versions of the 40mm Rolex Day-Date – one in 18k yellow gold, and another in Rolex’s proprietary Everose gold.

The actor’s yellow gold Day-Date (ref. 228238) is the larger version of the classic all-gold Day-Date President – a recognized symbol of success and accomplishment. This watch was previously available only in a 36mm case, but in 2015, Rolex released a 40mm version, which we see on Michael. Meanwhile, Michael’s choice Everose Day-Date (ref. 228235) features a brown dial, made more striking with its sunray finish and diamond indices. Michael was named Piaget’s brand ambassador in 2016 and the relationship is still going strong. He is the face of Piaget Polo, a series of steel watches with understated looks, curved cases, and polished or satin-finished bracelets. Just like the sport from which it takes its name, the Polo embodies masculine elegance.

 

 

Most recently, Michael was spotted wearing the Polo Skeleton model. The storied Swiss manufacturer demonstrates its watchmaking prowess in this watch – the mechanism is reduced to the point of transparency by cutting away the bridges that support the moving parts, allowing the wearer to view the blue movement at work. Michael also has a very distinct vintage Piaget timepiece in his watch box – an 18k yellow gold Polo 7131 from 1979. This timepiece defines the decadence and jet-set lifestyle of the ‘70s and early ’80s with its solid gold construction, and seamless and beautifully free-flowing bracelet that wears like jewelry.

 

Designed by Yves Piaget with both men and women in mind – a concept that was pretty much unheard of at the time – it was an early favorite of Andy Warhol and Miles Davis and many other luminaries.
