The Cartier Panthère is enjoying a renaissance. Introduced in 1983, the Panthère watch quickly saw an upsurge of popularity, becoming the “jewelry watch” of choice among the well-heeled and stylish set. It was famously seen on stars like Pierce Brosnan, Madonna, and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Cartier Panthére in Steel

The Cartier Panthere in stainless steel is the most understated version of this classic timepiece. Zendaya is often spotted wearing hers, on rotation with an 18k gold model. Why not acquire many varieties of a timepiece if you enjoy them so much?

Zendaya’s Panthere watches have a small 22mm case and polished and linked bracelets. Their blue cabochon crown provides an interesting flair, while their silver-grained dial serves as an elegant backdrop against the painted Roman numerals and blued steel hands. Cartier Panthére in Yellow Gold

Perhaps the most recognizable version of the Panthere, the 18k yellow gold edition was the one that dominated wrists throughout the ’80s and ‘90s. The Panthère is geometrically similar to the Santos de Cartier, but with smaller dimensions and a metal bracelet. Its exteriors are mirror-polished, resulting in an aesthetic that leans towards sporty-elegant.

Dua Lipa wears the smaller version of the yellow gold Cartier Panthere. Measuring 22x22mm, it looks very stylish stacked with bracelets and other wrist candy. The watch may be small, but it offers a strong wrist presence.

Meanwhile, we’ve seen Sienna Miller with the XL edition, measuring 27×27 mm. This watch also has the signature Cartier elements and a linked brick-lay bracelet. Both are no-nonsense, time-only quartz references that can go from everyday wear to formal affairs.

Cartier Panthére in Rose Gold

Throughout the 1980s, the Cartier Panthere watch was available in either yellow gold or two-tone yellow gold and stainless steel. Its relaunch in 2017 saw the release of an 18k rose gold edition, giving the line a more modern look. Rose gold is an ideal alternative to yellow gold if you want a warmer and more understated aesthetic.

The most coveted feature of the Panthere watch are the elegant bracelet links that mimic the motion of a panther as it walks through the jungle. All Cartier Panthere models, old and new, have the signature interlocking bracelet that remains durable as it drapes elegantly on the wrist.

Cartier Panthére in Rose Gold with Diamonds

Count on J.Lo to choose a version with more oomph. During the Pegasus World Cup in 2020, she wears the 22mm Panthère in 18k rose gold, set with brilliant-cut diamonds all over the case, bezel, and bracelet.

For a more discreet look with a dash of sparkle, there are Panthere models with brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel and crown alone (pictured above). These come in steel, two-tone steel and rose gold, and solid 18k yellow and rose gold, with a quartz movement under their hoods.
