The Watches of Rami Malek

Pasha de Cartier

Rami Malek became world famous for his role as Freddie Mercury in 2018’s Bohemian Rhapsody. His success seemed to come all at once, with the film being a global hit and him eventually winning the Oscar Best Actor award for that year.

Today, the global star has his choice of plum roles; and is set to be the next villain opposite James Bond. He’s also one of Cartier’s choice ambassadors for their new Pasha de Cartier watch. His love for the French maison is well-documented, with Cartier watches gracing his wrist in the most pivotal moments of his career. Check out the Cartier watches of Oscar winner Rami Malek.

Cartier Tank Americaine White Gold Chronograph Mens Watch W2609456

Cartier Tank Americaine

Rami was wearing a Cartier Tank Americaine XL watch when he brought home the Best Actor Oscar for his role as Freddie Mercury in the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. He became the first actor of Arabic descent to have won the award.

The Cartier Tank Americaine is inspired by the Tank Cintrée, one of the Tank collection’s earliest watches with an elongated case and more pronounced curve. The slight curvature of the Americaine contours to the shape of the wrist, making it ideal to be worn under the cuff. Photo from GQ Magazine on Twitter

Cartier Tank MC

Rami was also wearing a Cartier Tank when he accepted his Golden Globe award for the same role – this time a Cartier Tank MC.

The Cartier Tank MC was introduced in 2013; and was positioned as the Tank with a more masculine and sportive edge. Thicker and more generously sized than other Tank watches, it has strong square dimensions and light texturing on the dial that gives it depth and extra wrist presence. Photo from Golden Globes on Instagram

Cartier Pasha

In 2020, Cartier updated their classic round Pasha de Cartier, a cult design that was highly popular in the 1980s.

The Pasha was originally created by Louis Cartier in 1932 for the Pasha of Marrakech; and eventually revamped by renowned designer Gerald Genta in the 1980s. The iconic features of the Pasha were a chain-secured cap protecting the winding crown and the square Cartier rail-track on the dial.

Cartier revamped the Pasha in 2020 with a sleeker, more streamlined design, with no markings on the bezel, but with the fundamentals of the Pasha intact – such as the perfect round case, Arabic numerals, blued hands and sapphire cabochon. A stamped guilloché pattern in a silvery-white dial adds a dynamic and modern look. Photos from Cartier and Cartier on Twitter

Cartier Santos Dumont Large Steel Rose Gold Mens Watch W2SA0011

Cartier Santos-Dumont

Today’s Cartier Santos-Dumont is a modern interpretation of the first Cartier wristwatch created by Louis Cartier for aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont.

It was updated in 2020 with an XL-sized case and contemporary cases in steel, 18k rose gold, and two-tone steel and gold. The luxurious finish enlivens the design, where a mirror-polished bezel sits on a brushed case. The result is a handsome, well-sized watch that is a perfect entry to Cartier watches. Photo from GQ on Instagram
