There will be two watch hand timers in watches with rattrapante complications. The rattrapante doesn’t initially appear when you start the chronograph, it will look just like any other stopwatch. When you activate this function, the other hand will stop, and the second one will continue moving. Once you push the button again, the hand that stopped will move back into place with the chronograph hand. It is an excellent feature for measuring lap times.<\/p>\n

While a chronograph is a complication built into a watch, a watch referred to as a chronometer is a watch that has passed a variety of precision tests. If your watch is a chronometer, that means that it\u2019s highly accurate in telling time. There are no watches that tell time at 100% accuracy, but a watch that has passed the tests to be deemed a chronometer will be accurate between -4 to +6 seconds per day.<\/p>\n

COSC is a Swiss certification. Static tests are undergone in a laboratory. While these tests are not applied to finished watches, they are given to timekeeping instruments. COSC is highly discriminating, and only top-quality timekeeping instruments can aspire to pass these tests. Any chronometer that is certified by COSC can be classed as very high value.<\/p>\n

A METAS-certified chronometer must have already undergone the selective COSC tests. That means that any watch with this distinction has been certified twice. METAS testing lasts ten days and is held to an even higher standard than COSC. To obtain METAS certification, a watch must pass accuracy testing between 0 to +5 seconds. This certification also tests for other watch components including water resistance, magnetic exposure testing, rate deviation, and power reserve testing.<\/p>\n
