Pablo Picasso was perhaps the most important artist of the 20th<\/sup>\u00a0century. Best known for coming up with the concept of Cubism (which he pioneered with\u00a0artist Georges Braque), he also invented\u00a0collage<\/em>\u00a0and made major contributions to\u00a0Surrealism<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Symbolism<\/em>.<\/p>\n

His work impacted modern and contemporary art with unimaginable magnitude, that he eventually became a Pop culture icon.<\/p>\n

While Picasso is considered radical in his work, his taste in watches was certainly classic and timeless. He may not be considered a collector, but he had three of the most beautifully designed watches ever.<\/p>\n

It is unknown where the watches ended up after his death in 1973, so we\u2019ll give you their modern counterparts:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In\u00a0his portrait<\/a><\/u>\u00a0taken by famed photographer Yousuf Karsh, he is seen wearing a Jaeger Lecoultre Triple Calendar from the 1940\u2019s. Copies of the photo itself has a serious following and sells for thousands of dollars.The Triple Calendar pictured here features day and month apertures, and a red crescent tipped central date hand that tells the date on an outer calibrated date ring.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0another famous photo, Picasso is seen wearing an American Indian headdress, and an instantly recognizable stainless steel, black dial Rolex GMT Master<\/a> on his wrist.<\/p>\n

The Rolex GMT Master has been the watch of choice for pilots and frequent travelers since its launch in 1954. Its ability to track two timezones at once allows the wearer to set his departure and destination time.<\/p>\n

One of the three watches that Picasso\u00a0has been spotted wearing<\/a><\/u>\u00a0is a Patek Philippe Reference 2497 – a triple-date moon phase with the digital month and day aperture windows.<\/p>\n

The Annual Calendar Moonphase pictured here features an outer minute track, centre sweep seconds, two subdials for the day and month, sector for power-reserve indication, aperture for moon-phase and date display.
