Rolex watches have a unique combination of groundbreaking innovation and timeless design. While their watches were considered trailblazing when they debuted; they are, at the same time, classic. Their designs from decades ago can still be worn with confidence today, and when they did change over the years, they did so very subtly.<\/p>\n

When something reaches its 50th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary, however, it\u2019s more than proven itself and can have a little fun. Rolex is more classic\u00a0than flashy, but they do come up with unique designs and unexpected features to celebrate important milestones.<\/p>\n

Rolex Submariner Green 50th Anniversary Kermit Watch 16610LV (launched 2004)<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

To celebrate the half century existence of the Rolex Submariner, the company launched it with a new, bright green bezel \u2013 earning it the name \u201cKermit\u201d, after the famous children\u2019s muppet.\u00a0Along with its bold new color, it also came with an LV in its model number (meaning\u00a0lunette verte<\/em>or green bezel) and was the first Submariner to come with a\u00a0Maxi<\/em>\u00a0dial or larger luminescent hour markers.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

Rolex GMT Master II Yellow Gold Green Dial Mens\u00a0Watch 116718 (launched 2005)<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Rolex GMT-Master<\/a> is best-known for its colorful bezel, which even spawned\u00a0a number of nicknames such as\u00a0Coke, Pepsi, Rootbeer, <\/em>and\u00a0Batman.<\/em>\u00a0So on its 50th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary, it was\u00a0only fitting to give it an exceptional new bezel – it became the first Rolex to sport the\u00a0Cerachrom\u00a0<\/em>ceramic bezel, prized for its resistance to fading and scratching.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

\nFor the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona\u2019<\/a>s 50th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary in 2013, they released the platinum and ice blue-dialed ref 116506, the first Daytona to ever come in platinum.<\/p>\n

Rolex Submariner 18K White Gold Blue Dial Bezel Watch 116619<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(launched 2008)<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

On the 100th<\/sup>\u00a0year of the founding of Rolex, they quietly released three new all-gold Submariners, among other new releases. What made the Submariners exciting is that they were not modified versions of existing models but completely re-designed versions.\u00a0The one that particularly stood out was ref 116619 – nicknamed “Smurf” because of its\u00a0lacquered blue dial and bezel, it is\u00a0the first Submariner to be crafted in solid, 18k white gold.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

Rolex Seadweller 43mm Stainless Steel Mens Watch 126600 (launched 2017)<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/h2>\n

Changes to the 50th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary Rolex Sea-Dweller<\/a> may not be too obvious to the untrained eye, but to watch aficionados and Sea-Dweller<\/a> fans, the new\u00a0ref 126600 packs on new features. The most noticeable is its much bigger 43mm case (from 40mm),\u00a0which is more proportionate to its thickness; and\u00a0now\u00a0makes it\u00a0one of Rolex\u2019s larger models.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

Aside from its larger size, it\u2019s now outfitted with a Cyclops lens on the sapphire crystal, and a red \u201cSEA-DWELLER\u201d text on the dial.
