If you\u2019re building a watch collection, it\u2019s likely that Omega Speedmaster<\/a> has earned its place in your watch box,\u00a0or on your wish list. Launched in 1957, it has evolved throughout the years, from its pre-Moonwatch days, to today\u2019s modern version.<\/p>\n

More often than not, collectors look at the dial and hands\u00a0to place the date or age of the model they want, but when it comes to the Speedy, the bezel holds answers, too.

PATTERNS ON SPEEDY BEZELS<\/strong><\/span>
\nFirst things first – when it comes to the Speedy, there are general patterns that we can place on the bezel, but it\u2019s not an exact science.There were transition models and many limited edition collections throughout its decades of production, so there can be discrepancies from what we explain here, but they can still be authentic Speedmasters.<\/div>\n

This guide should help, but it\u2019s always best to consult an authorized dealer to authenticate a watch.<\/div>\n

DIFFERENCES ON SPEEDY BEZELS<\/strong><\/span>
\nThere are many different ways that collectors can identify the age of their Speedy \u2013 some do so through the quality of printing, fonts and number scales.For this guide, we\u2019ll look at three elements: the\u00a0Tachymetre\u00a0<\/em>text, and the\u00a0numbers 70 and 90.<\/em><\/div>\n

These are also more popularly called the DON (Dot Over Ninety) bezels. A ‘ghost’ DON bezel is one that has faded.<\/p>\n
