Cartier watches\u2019 history famously began with the creation of the Cartier Santos, the world\u2019s first proper wristwatch, in 1904.<\/p>\n

There are several variations of the Cartier Santos<\/a>, but there are fundamental design traits shared by all —\u00a0the square case and bezel studded with exposed screws and a simple Cartier dial without a guilloch\u00e9 engraving. A\u00a0date window has been added to its\u00a0larger versions.<\/p>\n

CARTIER TANK FRANCAISE\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Louis Cartier may have designed the first modern wristwatch but his true genius was in creating the classic Cartier Tank. The Art D\u00e9co design, inspired by military tanks of World War I, became\u00a0the\u00a0<\/em>dress watch of royalty, leaders,\u00a0and celebrities.<\/p>\n

The Tank Francaise<\/a> is a relatively young collection in the Tank family, having been launched in 1996 as a sportier version of the classic Tank watch<\/a>. The chain-link bracelet is reminiscent of the caterpillar tracks of the World War II tanks, a homage to the watch\u2019s beginnings.<\/p>\n

Today, it is available in gold, stainless steel and a two-tone steel and gold combination, and comes with options of leather straps.<\/p>\n

Most of Cartier\u2019s watches come in ladies and men\u2019s versions, and the Ballon Bleu<\/a> is one that comes with genuine unisex appeal. Introduced in the mid-2000s, it certainly doesn\u2019t have the history of the Tank yet \u2013 but its instantly recognizable look makes it one of Cartier\u2019s most popular pieces.<\/p>\n

The perfectly round case, from which it takes its name, is accented with a blue sapphire cabochon crown, and enclosed by a loop that forms part of the case. It comes with a clean, guilloche engraved dial,\u00a0with Roman numerals and perfectly designed proportions.<\/p>\n

And finally, we have the latest addition to the Cartier Tank family, the Anglaise<\/a>. An updated version of the classic Cartier Tank, it differs mainly with the thicker, curvilinear case and special crown design.<\/p>\n

The curved case is a different direction from the Art Deco roots of the Tank but it makes the design softer and more ergonomic. Launched just in 2012, it has become a favorite of Cartier fans for the design that sits nicely on the wrist.<\/p>\n
