Rolex is known for its timeless designs that slowly evolve through the decades. However, when a Rolex model reaches an important milestone, Rolex does tend to loosen up and introduce unexpected designs.<\/p>\n

Rolex has surprised us with anniversary watches<\/a> in the past — like the green Rolex Submariner<\/a> Kermit and the ice blue and chestnut brown Rolex 50th Anniversary Platinum Daytona<\/a>. Before these came along, Rolex also created a commemorative Jubilee Dial.<\/p>\n

\nThe Special Anniversary Dial<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Under Rolex lexicon, the\u00a0“Jubilee” is best known as\u00a0the five-piece,\u00a0semi-circular bracelet, or what is often considered the\u00a0dressier counterpart of the Oyster.\u00a0The bracelet design was\u00a0created especially for the iconic Rolex Datejust<\/a>, which Rolex launched in\u00a01945, to\u00a0celebrate their 40th or Jubilee anniversary<\/p>\n

Fast forward to 1985, Rolex was about to\u00a0celebrate its 80th anniversary,\u00a0while the\u00a0Datejust was also about to turn 40. Rolex commemorated this milestone with a special ‘Jubilee’ dial design.<\/p>\n

The Jubilee Dial is characterized by a monogrammed repetitive ‘ROLEX’ pattern,\u00a0which takes up the entirety of the dial. At times, it will have just the watch’s name on it (Datejust, for example), while some watches would have the standard SCOC\u00a0\u201cSuperlative Chronometer Officially Certified\u201d text above 6 o’clock.<\/p>\n

Although it made its debut on the Rolex Datejust, there are Lady Datejust<\/a>, Rolex President<\/a> Day-Date, and even Rolex Cellini<\/a> models that bear the Jubilee Dial. It’s also found on watches with an assortment of metals – from stainless steel, gold, and Rolesor steel and gold.<\/p>\n

It’s also available in many colors – from classic black, white, champagne, and silver; to more eye-catching bronze, rose, and blue. It is also accompanied by different hour markers, from Roman and Arabic numerals to batons and diamonds.<\/p>\n

The dial is also iridescent, changing its color when the light hits it. Depending on where it’s viewed, it can be bold and eye-catching, and sometimes incredibly subtle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which Rolex watches have the Jubilee dial?<\/strong> <\/span><\/h2>\n

The Jubilee dial appears in the Rolex Datejust range, including the Lady-Datejust 28mm, Midsize 31mm, and traditional 36mm sizes. There are also select Rolex Day-Date watches with the Jubilee dial, although it only appears in the 36mm size.<\/p>\n

Select Rolex Cellini watches also have Jubilee dials, namely the Classic and Cellissima.<\/p>\n

Does Rolex still produce watches with the Jubilee dial?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Rolex has retired the Jubilee dial and replaced it with a new range of motif dials, introduced alongside the new Rolex Datejust watches of 2021. The new range features a tropical-inspired Palm Dial, and a fluted dial based on Rolex’s iconic design hallmark.<\/p>\n

They remain available in the secondary market, and SwissWatchExpo has a wide range of models with the commemorative dial.<\/p>\n
