Oscars 2019: Our Favorite Men’s Watches

The Academy Awards is Hollywood’s biggest night; and this year, stars were at their red-carpet best as usual.

We saw an influx of quirky looks from the men this year – from Billy Porter’s tuxedo dress to Spike Lee’s purple suit – but most of the guys went with classic black. That doesn’t mean the looks were boring however, as many of them chose to accessorize with some really cool timepieces.

Here are our picks for the best men’s watches of the night, and how you can cop the look:

Tank Americaine
Cartier Tank Americaine on Rami Malek

Rami Malek brought home the Best Actor award for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. He donned a timeless, stainless steel Cartier Tank Americaine to match his classic tuxedo. The curved case, Roman numerals and blued hands of the Tank Americaine is perfect for black tie events; and Malek made an excellent choice for this career milestone. | photo from @Cartier

Le Petit Prince
IWC Big Pilot’s Watch on Bradley Cooper

Bradley Cooper gave one of the most memorable performances of the night – his duet of Shallow with Lady Gaga. He wore a unique IWC Big Pilot’s Watch piece. The red gold watch comes with a blue dial and a special engraving of a quote from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s iconic book, The Little Prince.

Santos 100
Cartier Santos on Mahershala Ali

Mahershala Ali brought home the Best Supporting Actor award for Green Book. Subtle style touches like his eggshell mandarin collar and relaxed, black beanie added just the right amount of edge to the classic tux. He finished off his look with a stainless steel skeleton-dial Cartier Santos.

Portuguese Chrono Automatic
IWC Portuguese on Henry Golding

Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding looked very sharp in a velvet peak lapel tuxedo on the red carpet. He matched it perfectly with this black dial IWC Portuguese Chrono Automatic.

The classic chronograph proved to be very popular with the stars, as Paul Rudd and Chris Evans wore IWC Portuguese Automatic and IWC Portuguese Chronograph, respectively. |photo from @HenryGolding

Reverso Rose Gold
Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso on Nicholas Hoult
The Favourite’s Nicholas Hoult was one of the style favorites that night, with his unconventional pleated tuxedo. Just like his game-changing tux, his choice timepiece was ahead of its time – the Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso, which features a “flip-over” two-sided case. | photo from @Jaeger LeCoultre
