Anthony Bourdain’s Watch Collection

Rolex Milgauss 116400GV Green Sapphire Crystal Models

It’s been a year since the passing of Anthony Bourdain, chef and world traveler extraordinaire. Remembered for his travelogue-style food programs, Anthony showed us that one can enjoy the best of the world while being authentic and down-to-earth.

His everyman sensibilities was reflected in his cooking, travel, and even his everyday style. Let’s take a look at the timepieces that graced his wrist:

Rolex Date Steel Blue Dial Oyster Bracelet Automatic Mens Watch 115210

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date

The timepiece that he wore most often was a 34mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date with a blue dial. It was auctioned through iGavel Auctions in 2019 and sold for a total of $48,750. Sold alongside a vintage Rolex Oyster and a Patek Philippe Calatrava, a large portion of the earnings from this watch went towards a scholarship at The Culinary Institute of America. Photo from Anthony Bourdain on Instagram

Rolex Datejust II Blue Baton Dial Steel Mens Watch 116300

Rolex Datejust II

Anthony later got himself a more modern blue dial Rolex. He wore a Rolex Datejust II in many episodes of No Reservations. The 41mm watch made of 904L stainless steel is outfitted with a blue dial and luminous baton hour markers. The combination of a highly durable material, a smooth bezel and a simple dial goes with many different looks, and it accompanied Anthony in many of his travels. Photo from The New Yorker on Twitter

Panerai Radiomir SLC Acciaio 47mm 3 Days Power Reserve Watch PAM00425

Panerai Radiomir

Panerai is known for their massive dive watches. The Radiomir is the ideal choice for those who want a Panerai with a thinner, sleeker case. It comes without the crown protector and with thinner wire lugs, offering a streamlined look while still being robust.

Rolex Explorer I 39mm Black Dial Steel Mens Watch 214270

Rolex Explorer I

The Explorer is one of the most versatile sport watches from Rolex. The smooth bezel and simple dial with luminous 3-6-9 Arabic numerals and baton hour markers make for a watch that can be used anywhere. Anthony could have worn this watch from formal meetings to weekend jaunts, and even up in the Himalayas, and it still would have looked good. Photo from CNN Parts Uknown on Instagram

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Silver Dial Vintage Steel Mens Watch 1002

Rolex Oyster Perpetual

Anthony’s favorite timepiece was the one that his father passed on to him – a vintage, stainless steel Rolex. Anthony never made a reference as to what model the watch was, but it looks very much like an Oyster Perpetual. He wore this timepiece very frequently, and fans of his travelogues would have definitely noticed. Photo from Anthony Bourdain on Instagram

Rolex Milgauss Black Dial Green Crystal Steel Mens Watch 116400

Rolex Milgauss

Anthony’s Rolex Milgauss is perhaps his most ornate timepiece. He wore a custom PVD blacked-out version, which accentuated the green crystal and bright orange details of the watch. Despite its playful design, the Milgauss is a very accurate timepiece – designed as an anti-magnetic watch for scientists, it can resist up to 1,000 gauss.
