If there’s a prime example of looking better with age, it’s actor, producer and director Steve Carell. Most popular for his roles in The Office and The 40-year Old Virgin, Steve’s career has spanned decades, but he wasn’t well-known for his personal style until recently.

With well-tailored pieces, a salt and pepper ‘do and overall confidence, Steve Carell has become the epitome of dressing stylishly for one’s age. Looks like he’s taken Ryan Gosling’s advice in Crazy, Stupid, Love in real life!

Steve’s latest timepiece is the ref 116506 Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. Introduced in 2013, this watch was released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Rolex’s most famous chronograph. This marked the first time that a Daytona model was made of a case and bracelet in 950 platinum. It also features a chestnut brown ceramic bezel with a single block of Cerachrom insert and a handsome glacier blue dial.

Steve is most often seen wearing his Rolex GMT Master II Batman. Apart from its iconic heritage, what makes the Rolex Batman so desirable is its versatile color scheme. The blue and black bezel, black Maxi dial with a blue GMT hand and robust 40mm case make for a handsome timepiece. It’s also suitable for many settings, whether you’re at the office or exploring the world.

This ref 116710 with the Oyster bracelet and Calibre 3186 movement has been recently discontinued and replaced with the new ref 126710. It continues to be a popular choice among collectors and is available on the pre-owned market.

Steve has been wearing an Omega Speedmaster MoonWatch since the 2010s and just recently, we’ve spotted him with the Speedy on his latest series, Netflix’s Space Force. On the show, Steve plays the general of the Space Force, which is tasked to get the armed forces on the moon by 2024.

There’s no timepiece more fitting than the MoonWatch for the role. First declared NASA’s official timepiece in 1965, it became the first watch on the Moon during the first lunar landing of 1969. Fifty years on, it continues to be the watch used by NASA in space explorations.

Steve has worn the Rolex Submariner several times on TV and film. A pioneer in the field of dive watches, the Rolex Submariner has crossed over to being an all-rounder timepiece, and the ultimate must-have for Rolex collectors.

Steve was first seen wearing the Submariner Ceramic Bezel in the Academy Award winning The Big Short (2016), where he played an investor betting against the mortgage market, in the years leading to the financial crisis of 2008. Interestingly, this model was only released in 2010, a few years after the crash.

Steve wears the same model in Apple TV’s The Morning Show, a web drama launched in 2019. Also starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, the show tackles the lives of morning news show anchors.

On the red carpet, Steve favors dress watches from Piaget, Harry Winston, and Jaeger LeCoultre. For the 88th Academy Awards in 2016, where he was a co-presenter, he wore a sophisticated Jaeger LeCoultre Perpetual Calendar under the cuff.

Perpetual calendar watches display the date, day of the week, and month; and not only knows the number of days in each month – it also automatically adjusts for leap years. The next time a perpetual calendar would have to be adjusted is in the year 2021. How’s that for a complication?
