The Watches of Oscar Isaac

After graduating from Juilliard School in 2005, Oscar Isaac embarked on a whirlwind acting career. From playing supporting roles in major films, he was catapulted to leading man status with the crime drama movie A Most Violent Year (2014). He has since reached a broader audience with his character as pilot Poe Dameron in the Star Wars franchise.

As varied as his acting range are the watches in his collection. From vintage classics to contemporary designs, here are Oscar Isaac’s favorite timepieces:

Cartier Tank Francaise

Oscar’s latest watch sighting was during the 2022 Met Gala. He showed up at the event wearing a trompe l’oeil midi dress that resembles a tailcoat and a white tie. The actor spiced up his androgynous look with classic gold pieces from Cartier, including the Love bracelet and the sporty-elegant Tank Francaise.

Launched in 1995, the Tank Francaise has an Art Deco-inspired dial with black Roman numerals and blued steel hands. With a solid gold finish, this timepiece wears like jewelry, but the angular case and rectangular bracelet give off a masculine edge.

Omega Speedmaster

Oscar is a master in mixing otherwise clashing aesthetics when it comes to his red carpet looks. For the 2020 Oscars, he made an unexpected but sharp choice by wearing a sports watch with a rich heritage. The American actor went for Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary, launched to commemorate the iconic lunar landing in 1969.

Produced in 6,969 pieces only, it features a Ceragold™ tachymeter scale on the bezel, which provides a dash of elegance. The gray and black dial offers a stunning contrast against the 18K Moonshine™ Gold hands, indices, and Omega logo.

To emphasize its lunar history, the watch has a unique hour marker at 11, a sub-dial at 9 with a laser-engraved image of Buzz Aldrin disembarking the Apollo 11, and a caseback showing Aldrin’s laser-engraved footprint and Neil Armstrong’s legendary quote.

Bvlgari Octo Finissimo

One of the more striking pieces in Oscar’s watch box is a Bvlgari Octo Finissimo. Exuding opulence, it is one of the thinnest automatic watches in history with a 5.15mm thickness.

The model Oscar wears comes in a rose gold case, made more eye-catching with the sandblasted finish, sharp lines, and curved bezel. Boasting a restrained look, its matte dial makes the black printed baton indices and faceted hands pop.

Breitling Navitimer Chrono-Matic

While his collection is full of modern pieces, he made space for a vintage Breitling Navitimer Chrono-Matic, hailing from the 1970s. This watch measures about 47mm and runs on a Caliber 11 movement, developed by the famous grand coalition of Breitling, Tag Heuer, Hamilton Buren, and Dubois Depraz.

Moreover, the 8806 also has a steel construction, which is complemented by a matte black dial with complex details such as chronograph counters and an internal rotating bezel. With its large build, the watch complements Oscar’s outstanding presence.

Cartier Ballon Bleu

We’ve also seen Oscar wear excellent pieces on screen. Among them is a Cartier Ballon Bleu which he wore in the Dune promotion. This watch comes in a circular case, floating like a balloon, with a cabochon safely nestled in its side. With its steel and gold constructions, It also adds a touch of elegance to male and female wrists alike.

Oscar went for the rose gold edition with a smooth bezel and a black leather strap. It remains faithful to Cartier’s design DNA by boasting a blue cabochon crown and a silver dial with guilloche patterns and painted Roman numerals.

Rolex President Day-Date

In 2014’s A Most Violent Year, Oscar played immigrant entrepreneur Abel Morales. His raw performance in the film earned him favorable responses from critics. We saw the actor wearing a vintage 18k gold Rolex Day-Date in numerous scenes.

With the Day-Date’s reputation as a symbol of success, no other watch would have fit the role. The champagne dial contrasts well with the black texts, while the three-piece Presidential bracelet ties the look together.
