Rolex Daytona Everose, An Evolution

Rolex Daytona Rose Gold Everose 116515 Watches

There is something about rose gold chronographs that are incredibly appealing. Where the silhouette of a chronograph brings to mind high-octane races and adrenaline rush, the soft pink gold shade balances it out with warmth and sophistication.

When it comes to rose gold luxury chronographs, there is nothing quite like the Rolex Daytona. Crafted in the brand’s proprietary Everose gold alloy, its secret blend of gold, copper, and platinum promises a signature shine and everlasting color. Let’s look back at the evolution of the Rolex Daytona Everose:

In 2005, Rolex debuted their very own rose gold alloy: the Everose gold. Featuring a blend between pure gold, copper, and platinum, this metal offers long-lasting color and sheen as opposed to standard rose gold. Three years later, the material finally made its way to the Daytona series with the release of the ref. 116505.

Chic and versatile, this watch has the hallmark traits of modern-day Rolex Daytonas such as a 40mm case, large chronograph pushers and crown, and an Oyster bracelet but in solid Everose gold. The 116505 also comes with a matching Everose bezel, engraved with a black tachymeter scale.

When it comes to dial colors, black, ivory, rose gold, and chocolate brown were made available. Over the decades, various hour marker styles were also offered – from the traditional trapezoidal markers to Arabic numerals and brilliant-cut diamonds. Sometime in 2020, Rolex updated the diamond indices to the more modern baguette diamond-style hour markers.

2005 was indeed a year full of milestones for Rolex as that was the same year that they released Cerachrom – a scratch and fade-resistant ceramic material. The brand usually uses this material for its sports timepieces.

The Daytona ref. 116515 was the result of Rolex combining Cerachrom with Everose on its flagship chronograph watch. Instead of an engraved pink gold bezel, the watch has a black Cerachrom one with Everose gold markings.

Similar to contemporary Daytona references, the 116515 relies on the in-house Caliber 4130 movement with a 72-hour power reserve and an accuracy rating of −2/+2 seconds per day. The watch was also fitted with a leather strap upon its release, but in 2017, Rolex replaced it with their patented rubber bracelet called the Oysterflex.

Rolex Daytona Everose Rainbow ref 116595RBOW (2018 -)

For the 2018 release (116595RBOW), among the first things that will be noticed are the diamond-set case and the bezel with baguette sapphires, whose colors form a rainbow. Called the Rainbow Daytona, this piece is part of a highly collectible and very limited range of Daytonas released in 2012.

The 116595RBOW was initially offered in white and yellow gold, followed by Everose gold in 2018. Boasting a lustrous aesthetic, the watch is paired with a black lacquer dial, pink gold chronograph counters with a mother of pearl finish, 36 baguette-shaped sapphires in the bezel, 56 diamonds set into the lugs and case, and multi-colored baton sapphire indices. A 100-meter depth rating makes it suitable for recreational water activities.

Lastly, we have the Rolex Daytona meteorite dial models, released in 2021 with either an all-Everose gold or a Cerachrom Everose finish. The textured space rock surface on the dial offers a striking contrast against the warm rose color of the Everose exteriors.

Crafted from heavenly rock formations that date back millennia, meteorite dials are etched from sections of iron and nickel, eventually revealing the distinctive Widmanstätten patterns reminiscent of the Moon’s surface.

The sub-dials provide a unique flair to the watch with its black hue and sunburst finish, while the red “Daytona” text adds a subtle pop of color.

Both sophisticated and robust, the Everose gold Daytona models are highly functional sports watches and statement luxe pieces at the same time. Explore our selection of Rolex Daytona Everose watches at SwissWatchExpo.com.
