The Watches of NBA’s Chris Paul

Patek Philippe Complications Annual Calendar Rose Gold Watch 5905

Having played for 18 NBA seasons, Chris Paul is considered a veteran of the game. A leading presence for the Phoenix Suns, CP3 as he is called, is widely regarded as one of the greatest point guards of all time.

Off the court, he’s considered one of the most stylish NBA players – with an impressive collection of pre-game ensembles, custom-tailored suits, and top-notch timepieces. Check out Chris Paul’s Watch Collection.

Patek Philippe World Time Complications Yellow Gold Mens Watch 5110

Even in the NBA where watches are plentiful, Chris Paul’s Patek Philippe World Time Complications is a beast. This piece interrupts the parade of souped-up stainless steel sports watches that steal collectors’ attention today.

The World Time is an iconic and distinctive offering of Patek. It was reintroduced in 2000, having remained out of production since 1965. Chris’ choice model features a gold construction, a black leather strap, and a 24-hour disc that allows wearers to quickly see the time in all 24 time zones. Both the guilloche medallion on the center of the dial and the raised indices add interest. Video from Chris Paul on Instagram

The Patek Philippe Annual Calendar is another one of Chris’ most prized possessions as it was gifted to him by his wife.

His preferred model features a rose gold case and chocolate brown sunburst dial that gradually grades to black at the periphery. The watch also unites two of the Swiss brand’s signature complications – a self-winding flyback chronograph and an annual calendar, with a black leather strap to complete the look. Photo from Chris Paul on Instagram

Patek Philippe Aquanaut Travel Time Steel Mens Watch 5164A

Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5164A

The ref. 5164A is one of the most desired versions of the Patek Philippe Aquanaut as it introduced the Travel Time complication to the series. It has a fourth hand indicating the second time zone, and two apertures on the dial indicating the local and home day/night time.

The strap on this version of the Aquanaut is made of composite rubber, which Patek calls “Tropical”. It is extremely resistant to wear, salt water, and UV radiation. Chris treasures his ref. 5164A, which has a stainless steel finish, because it was one of his birthday presents to himself. Photo from Chris Paul on Instagram

Rolex Daytona Yellow Gold Green Dial Mens Watch 116508

Chris also has an excellent collection of Rolex watches with iconic designs. From the Daytona range, he has the cult favorite Green Dial Daytona ref. 116508 or what’s known among collectors as the John Mayer Daytona.

It earned its moniker after Mayer wore it during an interview. When this watch was first released in 2016, it did not disappear from boutiques like other Daytonas. But once the Mayer effect took hold, the watch doubled in value—going from $34,650 at retail to more than $70,000 at the secondary market. The combination of gold and green suits Chris’ color-blocking style, while red touches on the dial offer a strong pop of color.

Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Rose Gold Everose Mens Watch 116515

Rolex Daytona Everose Gold 116515

Chris’ Rolex ref. 116515 is an interesting take on the classic Daytona and just begs to be worn. Crafted in solid 18k Everose gold, it includes a black ceramic bezel and a stunning ivory dial, topped with luminous indices, central sweep hands, and chronograph registers.

Instead of a metal bracelet, this particular chronograph is also paired with a black leather strap, which allows for lighter and more comfortable wear on the wrist than pure gold watches. Photo from Chris Paul on Instagram

Rolex Submariner Steel Yellow Gold Diamond Sapphire Serti Dial Mens Watch 16613

Rolex Submariner

For his Rolex Submariner, Chris chose a ritzy take on the rugged sport watch – the ref. 16613 with a two-tone steel and yellow gold finish and a champagne-colored dial.

This particular model, produced in the early 1980s, features what’s called a Serti watch face. It comes from the French word “sertir,” which means to set, and is characterized by 8 diamond-set hour markers and the sapphires at 6, 9, and 12 o’clock positions. A vibrant blue bezel adds character to the already elegant timepiece.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 18k Rose Gold Black Dial Watch 15500OR

One of Chris’ favorite timepieces is his AP Royal Oak in rose gold (ref. 15500OR), which was gifted to him by a teammate.

This 41mm model boasts ultra-sharp edges, bigger indices for easier readability, minute markers printed on the outer rim, and a date display at 3 o’clock, all of which complement the “Grande Tapisserie” pattern on the dial. The ref. 15500OR is a watch that can be appreciated from every perspective because all of its intricacies are a true spectacle. Photo from Chris Paul on Instagram

Vacheron Constantin Historiques 222

Vacheron Constantin Historiques 222

One of Chris’ latest acquisitions is the Vacheron Constantin Historiques 222, which is a stand-out piece and immediately reached grail status for many collectors. Launched in 2022, it is a re-issue of the ref. 222, designed by Jorg Hysek and introduced by VC in the 1970s.

The key features of this timepiece include a tonneau-shaped case, integrated bracelet, grooved bezel, and the Maltese Cross logo recessed into its case at 5 o’clock. While A-Listers like Chris continue to wear the modern-day Historiques 222, it is still a very enthusiast-driven wristwatch, very much an “if you know, you know” reference that the mainstream has yet to completely grasp. Photos from Vacheron Constantin and Chris Paul on Instagram
