TAG Heuer Monaco Blue Dial Caliber 11

Jacob is vocal about his massive love for the history of cinema, as well as his admiration for 50s screen giants like Montgomery Clift, James Dean, and Steve McQueen. Thus, to see him sport the iconic TAG Heuer Monaco on multiple occasions is no surprise.

A timeless icon of revolutionary design, the Monaco rose to fame as McQueen’s watch in the 1971 race film Le Mans. Jacob wears a modern incarnation launched in 2015 Baselworld – the ref. CAW211P. This watch remains faithful to the racing colors, dial layout, finish, and square construction of the original 1969 model but with a few modern touches. 

These include a sapphire crystal to protect the face and the caseback, a small second indicator instead of a 12-hour counter, and a Sellita-based Caliber 11 under the hood with the same Dubois-Depraz module as the predecessor on top. TAG Heuer Monaco Black Dial Caliber 02

The Brisbane-native actor made his Oscars debut in 2022 as one of the presenters and he made sure to wear a special watch to mark the event. His choice was another contemporary TAG Heuer Monaco with a sportier and more elegant appeal – the ref. CBL2113.

Crafted in steel, this watch features a sunray-brushed black dial accented with radially applied hour markers, silver contrasting sub-dials, and red secondary and chronograph hands. Inside runs the brand’s integrated automatic chronograph movement Heuer 02 with top-notch architecture and an 80-hour power reserve. The Monaco ref. TAG Heuer Monaco Dark Lord

Jacob was appointed as the fresh face for the TAG Heuer Monaco in 2022. He celebrated his new gig by attending the 79th Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix festivities with the unique Monaco “Dark Lord” Special Edition on his wrist.

This watch pays homage to a rare namesake all-black Monaco from the 1970s. Defiantly luxurious, it channels the feel of the vintage original by boasting lume-filled, rose gold-plated hands and indices, along with a pebbled outer rim that deftly accentuates the Monaco’s circle-in-square dial configuration.

The rest of the Monaco “Dark Lord” Special Edition is entirely modern: its square case is fully finished in sandblasted black DLC-coated Grade 2 titanium with the automatic Caliber Heuer 02 under the hood. Cartier Tank Must Steel Diamond

Jacob’s watch collection spans more than just TAG Heuer. For his guesting on The Today Show in November 2023, the actor wore the entry-level iteration of the famed Cartier Tank – the Tank Must.

Jacob chose the large model, measuring 33.7mm by 25.5mm with a thickness of 6.6mm. Its stainless steel brancards are completely covered in 42 brilliant-cut stones comprising 0.48 carats, transforming a rather commonplace reference into a stealthy flex. Cartier Tank Louis Gold Black Dial

The Aussie star practically stole the show at Saturday Night Live with his sleek all-black Saint Laurent ensemble, which he paired with another sophisticated Cartier timepiece, the Tank Louis in solid yellow gold. This watch, released in 2022 and popularly known as the Tank LC, blends fashion with horology.

Reserved but not too fancy, this version of the Tank Louis is in the Parisian maison’s Large size with a black lacquer dial that serves as the perfect canvas for the two sword-shaped gilt hands, the printed Cartier signature, and the words “Swiss Made” at the bottom. Powering the watch is a hand-wound Caliber 1917 MC, which offers a 38-hour power reserve. Combined with a black alligator leather strap, the Tank LC represents Cartier in its purest form. Cartier Tank Normale

Jacob appears to have developed a major obsession with Cartier, judging by the times he popped up in a variety of the French brand’s offerings – from talk show appearances to the red carpet. His watch for the 2023 Venice Film Festival premiere of Priscilla is particularly interesting as it bridges the gap between Cartier’s past and present – the Tank Normale.

The Hollywood hotshot has the reissued version, released in 2023 as part of the Privé collection. This timepiece shares many of the famous elements of the 1917 original, including the beveled sapphire crystal, satin-brushed brancards, Roman numeral dial with an inner railroad track, and the 1917 date buried in the VII numeral. 

However, its dimensions are increased from the original’s 27mm by 19mm to a more modern 35.2mm x 27.8mm, and its hands are in an “epée” design that harkens back to 1940s Normales rather than the standard Breguet hands. TAG Heuer Carrera Glassbox Chronograph Blue

Jacob never fails to bring his A-game when it comes to dressing up. While his street style leans towards sporty simplicity and comfort, his outfits for the red carpet are always ultra put together. Case in point: when the actor rocked a retro-chic double-breasted Valentino suit and a complementing TAG Heuer Carrera Glassbox to a TAG Heuer event in London. 

Sleek and timeless, Jacob’s choice model features a 39mm steel case, a blue-and-silver face with vintage-inspired typography, and a matching leather bracelet. Its domed and curved sapphire crystal allows the tachymeter scale to be elevated above the dial, bringing this timepiece into the modern terrain.
