Which Breitling to Buy?

BREITLING

Breitling is one of the most revered watch brands in the world; and it is also unrivaled in creating aviation watches. In fact, they’re the only watch brand to equip every major model with chronometer certified movements.

So does this mean that Breitling watches are only for aviation enthusiasts? While they are precision instruments, they can certainly be used and enjoyed by all.

Breitling Navitimer

BREITLING NAVITIMER | The Iconic Aviation Watch
Launched: 1952
br
The Navitimer is undoubtedly Breitling’s most famous watch. It was designed to help pilots do all their calculations with one tool – using its now iconic circular slide rule bezel. The range of numbers you see around its dial make a host of pilot-appropriate calculations possible, such as distances and air speed. This tool was necessary pre electronic calculator, but it remains useful today. Breitling is aware that not everyone (including pilots!) know how to use the slide rule bezel, so they have a dedicated slide rule tutorial on their website.Best for: professional pilots and aviation enthusiasts, cult or iconic watch collectors, and those who want an in-house Breitling movement  |   VIEW COLLECTION >

BREITLING SUPEROCEAN | The Diver’s Watch

It was created in the middle of the ‘50s dive watch boom, with a water resistance of 200 meters and a practical design of Arabic numerals and oversized hands, it beat its contemporaries impressively. The Superocean Heritage line, launched on its 50th anniversary in 2007, pays homage to the inaugural model. It comes complete with a steel bracelet and the original 1950s logo.Best for: sailing and watersports enthusiasts and those who want a watch that’s sporty at first glance, but still a little retro  |  VIEW COLLECTION >

BREITLING CHRONOMAT and AVENGER | The All-rounders
Launched: 1984The Chronomat, with its heftier, brawnier case, was designed to weather even the most extreme conditions. It’s equipped with both a diver’s bezel and a chronograph function, and its water resistance ranges from 100 to 500m depending on the model. The Avenger is similar to the Chronomat with its features, but it has a simpler case design and less busy dials. It does not carry an in-house movement, but it is still hand finished by Breitling to meet their standards.Best for: those who want a versatile watch – part diver, part pilot, with a more imposing design | VIEW COLLECTION >
